Soundtracks have become a part of my life these days. It's one of the sweetest things in life for me. I don't know how my life would have been today if not for the happy accident that happened a long time back. I always admired music and themes of certain movies but never bothered to check online about it.
I was watching the dark knight rises in my room when I got a phone call. I saw the last scene, which was the best ending to any series ever if u ask me. I saw the title appear in the end bit something stopped me from closing the window. If was Christopher nolan's name. As I sat there admiring the text in his name, I was taken aback by the music that was playing in the background. I noted down the name of the composer, "Hans Zimmer". And I also noted down this thing called " soundtrack by water tower music ". With a masterpiece being played in the background, I googled Hans zimmer and water tower music. I looked up Hans zimmers profile in imdb and noticed that he also composed tracks for amazing films like lion king and Sherlock Holmes. I searched for the dark knight rises soundtrack in water tower website. I realised that we had to pay and purchase these tracks if we had to listen to me. The next thing that struck my mind was " utorrent ". Yes I'm a torrent freak, I had been a very active user of torrents right from 2010. And boom, I finally found what I wanted. I opened the files with windows media player. I listened to every single track in the file. It was the best discovery ever made in my life. Even though there were some useless tracks like " death by exile" and "underground army", there were also amazing tracks like " imagine the fire", "no stone unturned", " risen from darkness", and "rise", and my all time favourite " why do we fall". Even by typing those words, goosebumps come out piercing through my skin like 10000 knives. I didn't know what to do for a few seconds. I just say back in my chair. The best part of these soundtracks is that I was able to connect to a memory from the movie and draw a mental picture of my own life. Searching for soundtracks has become one of my many hobbies since 2012. People said that life would come to an end on 2012, my life just began then. I made some epic discoveries, some masterpieces mostly by my favourite composer "Hans zimmer". Apart from these people, John Williams and Alexandre desplat were good too. But my playlist right now is flooded with tracks by hand zimmer. Inception, Sherlock Holmes, the dark knight trilogy and interstellar are the ones I listen to most often. I shared this experience with my brother who didn't show much interest in the beginning. Once I planted the seed in him, he is now more interested than me. It feels great till today because most of the things I like in my life were the things introduced by him. I was happy to make soundtracks a part of his life too. Be it batman, Christopher Nolan, harry potter, superman, or even writing a blog, I did it because I saw my brother do it and wanted to try it out.
I listen to them when I go to college, or do my homework or while watching a TV. When I watch the movies I mentioned before, I can now tell which track plays when. And as expected when I watch a movie with my brother he does the same. He suggested some brilliant soundtrack for me to listen to which were excellent. I come from Tamil nadu and I feel that instead of song CDs, if people also release soundtracks like they did for papanasam, it would be amazing because Indian composers are amazing too. Listening to ar rahmans tracks will prove my point.
I made an important discovery which helped me get better, fight back, stay strong, get inspired and fight harder for things that I want. I mean to say that soundtracks helped me get through hard times and failures in my life. If people start listening to them more I think it might do them some good and provide them another mode of relaxation like it did to me and my brother.
I'd like to point out my favourite tracks below.
Why do we fall
Time
Flight
The red book
Fireworks
Rise
Like a dog chasing cars
Mombassa
One simple idea
Cornfield chase
Mountains
Coward
The end?
You should start listening to them, they're amazing :)
